Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Vahigo collects, why, and how it's used — for both the Vahigo (rider) app and the Vahigo Driver app, which share the same backend.
Information We Collect
Account information (all users)
- Full name and phone number (used to sign in — we don't use email-based login)
- Profile picture, if you choose to add one
- Email address, only if you provide one
Driver-specific information
- Vehicle type, registration number, and driving license number
- Government ID — Aadhaar number (India) or citizenship number (Nepal), used for identity verification
- Vehicle documents you upload — RC book, insurance, and pollution certificate — and their verification status
- Subscription/payment history recorded for your account (Vahigo does not process card or UPI payments directly — recharges are recorded manually by our team)
Location
- Precise and approximate GPS location, used to find your pickup point, match nearby drivers, calculate routes and fares, and provide live trip tracking
Ride and app activity
- Ride history, including pickup/drop locations, fare, and trip status
- Destination search queries, used to show autocomplete suggestions and recent searches
- Coupon codes applied and saved places (e.g. Home, Work)
Device information
- A push-notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging), used to send you ride status updates and alerts
We do not collect your email as a login method, read your contacts or SMS messages, access your microphone, or track your precise identity/advertising ID for ads.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account, and verify your identity (drivers)
- To match riders with nearby drivers and calculate routes, ETAs, and fares
- To provide live trip tracking between riders and drivers during an active ride
- To send you notifications about ride status, driver arrival, and account activity
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests
- To maintain the safety, security, and proper functioning of the platform
How Information Is Shared
- Between riders and drivers: once a ride is accepted, the rider and driver can see each other's name, phone number, live location, and vehicle details, for the duration of that ride
- Maps Platform: location and search queries are sent to Google's Maps, Places, and Directions APIs to power location search, maps, and route calculation
- Firebase (Google): used to deliver push notifications to your device
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Data Retention & Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and personal data at any time, either from within the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account) or via our (https://vahigocab.com/delete-account).
When your account is deleted, your name, phone number, email, profile photo, and device tokens are removed. Ride history records are kept for accounting and legal purposes, but are no longer linked to your name or contact details once your account is deleted.
Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), to protect your information. Access to personal data within our systems is restricted to what's needed to operate the platform.
Children's Privacy
Vahigo is not intended for use by anyone under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date shown on this page.
